So you're feeling "Burnt out"?....

Updated: Jun 29, 2021

(HUGE disclaimer this is my own opinion, this blog is not to upset anyone. But to simply start promoting real self-care and being able to understand the difference between burn-out and coming to terms; with your need of an organized schedule and a clear vision of where you see yourself in the next couple of months.)

It has become the new norm to post on our social media how ''burnt out'', you might be feeling. But most of the people that I see post about it are working a 9-5 job and then go on about their day. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed & emotionally drained. In other words, you have brought yourself to feeling this way! You have been waking up every day, waiting for Friday to come around; so that those two days; you call a weekend you can, “live your life" or "catch up on homework".

This concept that we are so often seeing on our social media these days, was developed in the mid-1970s by two researchers working independently, psychoanalyst Herbert Freudenberg, and Christina Maslach, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. What does this tell me? That this term was born from those who have probably spent more hours than they should've studying and reading the same thing repeatedly. This concept was born to describe those who have spent so much time studying; that when they open a book, they are not understanding what they are reading; LITERALLY. They are so BURNT OUT, that they can no longer understand the words written in the book or PDF document.

If you are a student and you are reading this right now, I know you can understand what I am trying to say. If you have been using the term BURNT OUT and you have not been spending 10 hours+ studying every day, for multiple months. I need you to stop jumping on the train, to follow a common trend. I want you to grab a journal, piece of paper, open the notes APP on your phone; whatever is easier for you! And write down your goals for the next three months, write due dates for these goals. Also, MAJOR KEY you have to be realistic with yourself when you are writing down these goals. I would hate for you to set yourself up for failure and then lose your motivation to keep going forward. We are a very spoiled era, we get upset if we don’t get our package from amazon on the day it says "expected delivery date". Truth be told unless something is literally given to you; If you want to build something, you must work at it and not give up. Every problem you have is a lesson and not until you learn the lesson, YOU WILL continue to run into the same problem. Has anyone ever asked you, "Why do these things always happen to you?", Maybe you have asked yourself this question. Guess what? Problems and failures are not life situations that only the poor are battling. Why do you think, people say "More money, more problems", Do not give up on your dreams, do not get upset with your loved ones if they do not see the vision you see for yourself! You do not only have to believe in yourself, but you must KNOW that you can have, what you dream of.

Now that you have written down some of your goals for the next three months, I want you to create a morning routine for yourself. Do not give yourself the excuse, that you do not have time for a morning routine. In fact, if you are that person stop reading this post right now! I do not like excuses, every problem has a solution. Very few problems, do not have a solution; so find yours RIGHT NOW. How badly do you want to stop feeling this way? Once your morning routine is written out, make sure you put it, somewhere you can see it every morning. Now, I need you to write down, your night time routine, AGAIN no excuses! Figure out a way and get it done! If you are considering yourself, "burnt out" or in a "funk", chances are; you are bored out of your mind! Do something different, what are you so afraid of? Write down your fears & throw them in the trash!

Lastly, brainstorm all the things you like to do for yourself. It can be anywhere from getting your nails done, going to gym, listening to meditations on YouTube, taking a walk at the park with your dog or a lone. But you must know, what you are going to start doing for YOU. Listen to self-development videos, read books that share the secrets of life, go to the beach to just clear your mind, stare at the sky and be grateful for the opportunities you have! SOOO many things you can do instead of sitting and complaining that you are feeling burnt out. Everyone can say they are feeling burnt out, but what are you going to do to fix this so-called problem of yours? This prolonged stress that is causing you to feel physically and emotionally drained is only happening because YOU are not taking care of your mind. I understand bills must be paid, especially if you are in school and are paying it out of pocket. Not kidding, I feel the pain because that is exactly, what I am doing!

I am no different than you or anyone else one this planet, I simply am a student who works every day to learn more and wants to share the little knowledge, I know. I hope you learn to work on yourself, more than you work; on your job. That you find a way to do things, instead of finding excuses as to why they have not been done. I know that finding excuses can become time consuming, especially when you try to explain these excuses to those around you! SO, STOP that horrible habit right now, learn to look for solutions. Now, these tasks will NOT be easy, but I know they will be worth it!

Lastly, If you need help doing any of this, do some reserach on a mentor, one who can guide you through this journey of yours to being the best version of yourself. If you took the time to read this, I really do love you & appreciate you for taking time out of your day. I know this short and simple, but if you need anymore information do not be affraid to reach out and ask for help! Remember the limit does not exist, you are the one that sets it.
